Pre-New Year Celebration for Family Members of the Hermitage Friends’ Club

Published 09 January 2023

On 18 December 2022, for the first time the General Staff building became the venue for a pre-New Year celebration for family members of the Hermitage Friends’ Club.

In the run-up to the New Year holiday, a master class in the painted decoration of porcelain was arranged for the children under the guidance of artists from the Imperial Porcelain Factory. Meanwhile their parents had the opportunity to stroll around the General Staff building and view the permanent displays including Impressionist art and the exhibition “Realms of the Eagle. The Art of Empire”.

Awaiting the children after the master class was a meeting with Grandfather Frost and the Snow Maiden, competitions and riddles, followed by a ballet performance – The New Year Adventures of Masha and the Nutcracker in the Hermitage – in the Atrium of the General Staff.

At the end of the evening, Grandfather Frost presented special prizes for the children with the most unusual and creative costumes, while all the guests received New Year’s gifts as they were leaving.

“This is the first time Magnit is acting as a partner for a New Year party at the Hermitage. We are certain that this will become a welcome tradition for us. Children believe in and expect wonders, especially before the New Year, and we are pleased to make them the gift of a festive mood and a sense of magic,” Olga Kolganova, North-West Regional Director for the Magnit retail chain, commented.
