On 29 May 2018 the closing event of the Hermitage Friends’ Club’s 2017/18 season took place in the General Staff building.

Members began to gather in the fourth courtyard from 6.30 in the evening for a “glass of champagne”. Among those attending were a delegation from the Italian Friends of the Hermitage and guests from Switzerland who had become Friends in St Petersburg. The gathering them moved on to the fifth courtyard Atrium, where they were greeted by Svetlana Filippova, the head of the Hermitage Friends’ Club. She told the Friends about the changes that they can expect in the new season. For example, by moving to “green communications”, the use of e-mail circulars, we will not only be helping the environment, but will also be able to inform Friends more extensively about events in St Petersburg. We will make sure to keep those Friends who do not have access to e-mail informed by telephone.

After the welcome, the Friends were invited to view a film about the work of Ilya and Emilia Kabakov. Then the guests, accompanied by members of staff from the Department of Contemporary Art and the Youth Centre, visited the exhibition “Not Everyone will be Taken into the Future”, where they were offered a guided tour.
