Meeting of the Hermitage Friends' Club The Hermitage Mosaics

Published 02 April 2018

Members of the International Hermitage Friends' Club met in the Museum on 29 March, 2018.

Popular program The Hermitage Mosaic features special in-depth tours of the museum developed exclusively for the Friends’ meeting and guided by the curators of the State Hermitage Museum.

This year, the Friends were offered twenty-four topics covering a variety of historical periods and artistic styles represented in the Hermitage collections. Especially popular were such tours as Tibet: Myths and Realities of the Country of Snows; Nicholas I – ‘Knight of the Empire’; Italian Sculpture from Michelangelo to Canova; Caravaggio and The Caravaggisti; Spanish Grandees and Kings. Spanish Portrait in the Hermitage Collection; The Splendid Age of Catherine the Great, as well as exciting walkы around the museum for children and their parents (What the Old Pictures Tell... and ‘Treasures of the Very Far East’, or ‘To the Farthest End of the World’). The foreign guests were also taken care of: they were offered a choice of four topics in English.

We encourage everyone who is not yet a member of the Hermitage Friends' Club to join the international family of Hermitage Friends and participate in the history of the great museum. This will also entitle you to attend the events organized exclusively for the members of the Hermitage Friends' Club.
