Season Final Event in the Hermitage Friends' Club

Published 04 July 2022

On 30 June 2022, the closing of the Hermitage Friends’ Club’s 2021/22 season took place in the Winter Palace.

The final event of the jubilee 25th season was a gathering devoted to the presentation of the new permanent display in the Peter the Great Gallery, the creation of which has been timed to mark the 350th anniversary of the birth of the first Russian emperor.

The evening began in the Field Marshals’ Hall with a welcoming address from Alexandra Davydova, the head of the Hermitage Friends’ Club. Then the curator Natalia Bakhareva, a senior researcher in the Department of the History of Russian Culture, told the guests in detail about the new display, about the monarch’s personality and his era, as well the items that were created by Peter himself or belonged to him personally.

In continuation of the evening, the Friends were invited to view the halls containing the new display. The exhibits aroused very lively interest among the guests who eagerly made use of the opportunity to put questions to the curator about what they were seeing.

We encourage everyone who is not yet a member of the Hermitage Friends' Club to do so by joining before the event, which will provide your participation in all the exclusive events for the members of the Hermitage Friends' Club only.
