Exhibition of works by Jeff Koons curated by Joachim Pissarro of the Hermitage Museum Foundation (USA)

Published 07 October 2021

We are glad to announce that Joachim Pissarro, Board member of the Hermitage Museum Foundation (USA), has curated an exhibition of works by Jeff Koons at Palazzo Strozzi in Florence.

This autumn, Palazzo Strozzi in Florence is hosting a major exhibition by Jeff Koons, “Shine”, opening on 2 October 2021.

The exhibition brings to Florence a wide selection of the most celebrated works by Jeff Koons who, from the mid-70s to the present day, has forged a reputation as one of the most important and controversial figures in the contemporary art world.

The exhibition is curated by Arturo Galansino (Director General, Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi, Firenze) and Joachim Pissarro (Bershad Professor of Art History, Hunter College, City University of New York), Hermitage Museum Foundation director, art critic, and theorist.

To mark the opening of the show, Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi is hosting a special event at the Odeon Cinema in Florence. In the form of a dialogue between Jeff Koons and major international scholars, the event will take the shape of a multi-faceted conversation on the significance of the word “shine” as a key term in art history, philosophy and spirituality. The panel is moderated by the curators of the exhibition.
