The trustees of the Hermitage Foundation in Britain have announced the appointment of Guy Vesey as executive director of the organization.

An experienced art world professional and former managing director of Christie’s in Russia, Guy Vesey was until very recently head of business development and marketing at the auction house Phillips, where he was in charge of museum relations across the whole of Europe. In the Hermitage Foundation UK, he will also be responsible for development strategy.

Geraldine Norman, who has been an inseparable part of the Foundation from the moment of its creation and a great friend of the museum for more than 25 years, is retiring but will continue to show support as a consultant to the Foundation and also as an advisor to the General Director of the Hermitage, Mikhail Piotrovsky.

The British Friends of the Hermitage Society, later renamed the Hermitage Foundation UK, was founded in 2003. It actively supports the Hermitage in one of the museum’s most innovative projects – the Hermitage 20/21 programme.
