This Thursday, March 26, the Hermitage conducted an online tour of the museum in Italian, which record is available on the official video channel of the Hermitage. The online broadcast brought together more than 15,000 viewers. Francesco Bigazzi on behalf of the Italian Friends of the Hermitage has conveyed gratitude to the museum.

This was a very important event for the Hermitage. In this way, the museum expressed its support for the people of Italy, who are going through difficult times. March 25 is considered the day of the foundation of Venice - a city which is closely connected with Saint Petersburg, including the fact that it is in Venice, on the square of San Marco, that the center of «Hermitage-Italy» is located. A rich collection of Italian art, regular exhibitions organized by the Hermitage together with Italian partners, make our countries very close, primarily in the cultural field. That is why the Hermitage staff say words of support to the Friends of the Hermitage in Italy, to the staff of our center in Venice, but above all to all Italians. It is an opportunity to tell them that we are with them, albeit virtually.

The State Hermitage museum CEO Mikhail Piotrowsky has addressed the words of support to the Italian people:
«With these broadcasts, which speak about Italian art in the Hermitage, we want to express our solidarity with our friends in Italy and all Italians who, like us, are fighting the epidemic now. This is not the first such case in the history of Italy and Russia, we will deal with it. Art is something that helps people to live and survive, and the history of Italy proves it perfectly. We would be very happy if our Italian friends, with whom we are in constant contact, could feel the warmth that comes from us, from our museum, from the Italian halls of the Hermitage. This is a small part of Italy here, on the banks of the Baltic, in northern Venice».

Olga Makho, the head of the Public education sector of the State Hermitage, will conduct a special excursion in Italian.
