The exhibition is a major project of the State Hermitage Museum, the National Archaeological Museum of Naples and the Pompeii Archaeological Park, includes more than 200 masterpieces of ancient art, including works by the Hermitage’s Pompeian collection. The exhibition was made possible with the support of Lavazza.

Pompeii, Herculaneum and Stabia, three Ancient cities buried beneath a layer of ash when Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD. This exhibition looks at their rediscovery and the archaeological excavations that commenced at the very start of the eighteenth century, revealing many new aspects of life in Ancient cities. Superb frescoes and mosaics, sculpture and items of bronze tell the incredible story of the gods and heroes who ‘inhabited’ the houses where everyday life unfolded in Ancient Rome. More than 80 masterpieces of Classical art, never before shown in St Petersburg, make up this superb exhibition.
