Opening of the New Season at the Hermitage Friends’ Club

On October 24, 2018, the International Hermitage Friends’ Club opened its new season 2018/2019. The first meeting featured the introduction of the temporary exhibition “Furniture for a Body’s Every Whim”. The Age of Historicism in Russia”.

The evening opened with welcoming words from the Deputy General Director of the State Hermitage Museum Svetlana Adaksina in the Manege of the Small Hermitage. Dr. Adaksina congratulated Friends on the opening of the new season, welcomed the new members of the Hermitage Friends’ Club and thanked everyone for their generous support of the museum development projects.

Following these words of welcome, the exhibition curator Dr. Natalya Guseva introduced to the Friends the recently opened exhibition, and told the guests about an outstanding collection of furniture of the State Hermitage Museum.

Both the lecture and the exhibition enjoyed great success among the guests of the evening, who were happy to use this opportunity and see the unique objects as well as to ask their questions to the Hermitage curators of the Educational Department.
